I did NOT stay up all night knitting socks. I promise. The future hub and I carpool (he drives, I knit). The sixteen mile journey takes 45 minutes each way, so I finished the foot in the car for the most part. And some major knitting Tuesday night.
They are now blocked and almost ready to go!
Using some of his model airplane foam, we fabricated a couple of portable sock blockers that are slightly larger than my medium blockers. They'll be traveling to my pal, along with the extra yarn, and a few goodies.
I must admit, my inspiration to finish these socks wasn't entirely noble. See, on Monday, I had something new arrive.
Handmaiden Silk Cashmere from Simply Socks. Everybody with me. mmmmmmm.
First, let's talk about Simply Socks. Outstanding etailer. Great stuff Opal! Cherry Tree Hill! Fleece Artist! Interlacements! Need I say more? Second, free shipping over $50. With names like that, $50 is a blink of an eye. Third, super-duper fast. I ordered on Friday, twas in my hot little hands on Monday. Fourth, great support. Alison is great with email support on questions.
Now, let's talk about the Handmaiden. It isn't cheap. At all. $27 for 187yds, which will make anklets. It is soft and knits up like a dream. However, for $27, I want a skein I can put on a winder and wind. I do not want this.
Please note, this was after two good hours of work on the second half of the skein. I'm not done yet.
Back to the first half of the skein, it settled in last night for some knitting (and alternate untangling with the future hubster) and a bit of light reading.
What was the sock settling in with?
A very special book. It especially likes Page 14.
Any guesses what it was reading?
That's right, Book 2 in the Harlot series arrived yesterday!
Doesn't that sock look tiny? I'm spot on gauge. The pattern says that it will block out a lot larger. Here's to hoping that it will. I don't have enough to swatch! My thoughts about the free anklet pattern? it needs work, in my opinion. But I'm really happy that I'm finally at a place where I notice that things that don't seem right and am able to modify as I need to work for me. I also changed things to work for my 2 needle approach instead of the DPNs as called for.
How about the handspun sweater tommorow?
17 days.

I'm feeling jealous over the yarn and the book!
